This policy explains what happens to data when you use getempmail.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who we are

Temp Mail is an independent service that provides disposable email addresses. For anything in this policy, the contact point is hello@getempmail.com.

What we collect

What you give us

  • The address you use. It is generated on our side or typed by you. It is not linked to a name, password or profile, because none of those exist here.
  • The messages sent to that address. They are stored temporarily so that you can read them in the browser.
  • Attachments that arrive with those messages, for as long as the message exists.

What is recorded automatically

  • Technical logs: IP address, browser user agent, timestamps and the requested URL. These are used for rate limiting, fraud prevention and keeping the service online.
  • Session data: a session cookie keeps your current mailbox selected while you browse.

What we do not collect

  • No names, passwords or phone numbers.
  • No address book, no contact list, no calendar.
  • No advertising profile built from the content of your messages.
  • No sale or rental of personal data to anyone, ever.

Why we process it

Under the GDPR we rely on two legal bases. Legitimate interests covers running the service securely: delivering mail, preventing abuse and keeping logs long enough to investigate an incident. Consent covers non-essential cookies and personalised advertising, and you can withdraw it at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

How long we keep it

  • Messages: only while the mailbox exists. Deleting the mailbox deletes the messages.
  • Technical logs: up to 30 days, unless a specific abuse investigation requires longer.
  • Server backups: rotated within 30 days.

Cookies and advertising

We use a small number of first-party cookies to keep the site working. Advertising partners may set their own cookies to measure and personalise ads; where that happens, it is disclosed in the cookie policy and controlled by your consent choice. You can also manage ad personalisation directly with the ad provider.

Sharing

We share data only with the infrastructure providers needed to run the service: hosting, mail delivery and, if enabled, advertising. They act on our instructions and are bound by data processing agreements. We do not share data for anyone else's marketing.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to hello@getempmail.com. Because we do not hold accounts, we may not be able to identify you from an address alone, and we will say so honestly. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

The service is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly process their data.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, access to infrastructure is restricted, and the amount of data we hold is deliberately small. No service can promise perfect security, but a service that stores almost nothing has almost nothing to lose.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be announced on the site.
